New Targa

One of the main jobs during our haul out was to have a targa (arch) added on to the boat. The targa: replaces our old davits so that we can lift our dinghy higher; provides a platform to add another 1000W of solar panels; provides a rack for our SUPs; integrates the wind generator, replacing the dedicated post it had previously; and adds some stern seats with storage boxes.

We had spoken to a few fabricators and had become a bit disillusioned with the responses we were getting. That changed when we got to The Boat Works and spoke with Geoff from Choice Stainless Steel. He understood what we were asking for. I can’t say enough good things about the resulting targa that Geoff, Gene and the team designed and built for us. They didn’t just build what we asked for. They took the time to understand what we wanted to achieve and then suggested adjustments that gave a better outcome. In hindsight, if they built exactly what we asked for we would’ve been disappointed with the result. Instead, we are just so happy with the job they did.

Nice when you deal with people who care – you will obviously be recommending them to others. Were these the people that took so long to get to you. Even if so, a good result beats a wait anytime – Hope you are all safe

They took a while to start. But to be fair, we weren’t being pushy as we were doing other jobs while waiting for them. And then there was the rain.
