Fixing a Hole

This is the second hole we’ve got in our RIB. We normally take as much care as we can to protect it from any potential damage. This time though we didn’t think far enough ahead: we left the dinghy for about 4 hours tied to a jetty, it was the top of the tide, and there was a tiny surge happening. When we came back the dinghy was very actively hitting up against exposed oysters on the jetty’s pylons, but with no immediately obvious problem. However, next morning…

Luckily there was only one hole, but some severe scratching in three other places. We decided to patch over the scratches as well, just for some reinforcing of the tube against any future hole at the scratch site.

Update: The video had to be reposted because YouTube decided there was a copyright issue with the background music. The initial music was Fixing a Hole by The Beatles, but apparently we need to pay a licensing fee to use that one.
